CBI files second FIR in the Gomti riverfront project case.
The IWC has registered a new case in the alleged irregularities in the ambitious project of the front of the Gomti river in Lucknow, which was carried out during the mandate of the previous government of the Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh, where the elections of the assembly are due to take place on next year.
The agency launched a massive search operation at 42 locations in 13 districts of Uttar Pradesh, Alwar in Rajasthan and Kolkata in West Bengal on Monday after the FIR’s search, authorities said.
The operation, which started early in the morning, continues and may be expanded throughout the day, they said.
Officials said 189 Uttar Pradesh government officials, including engineers at the time, and others were named as defendants in the FIR.
This is the second FIR related to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) project.
In the 2022 UP assembly elections, the Samajwadi Party, under Akhilesh Yadav, the Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party, Congress, among others, will try to wrest the state from the BJP.
