Centre’s panel for air quality management in NCR shuts down within 5 months of formation
The Central Government Commission for Air Quality Management in the National Capital Region and Adjacent Areas was closed within five months of its constitution.
The commission, which was established by the Center in October last year, has closed because the ordinance under which it was created has expired.
Speaking to PTI, the Union Environment Secretary RP Gupta said that since the ordinance was not presented in Parliament within six weeks of its convention, it has expired and consequently the commission also remains closed. .
“The ordinance never became a law. Any ordinance must be introduced within six weeks of the convocation of Parliament. It didn’t happen, so the ordinance has expired and therefore the commission is dissolved, ”he said.
The commission was headed by MM Kutty, a former secretary of the Ministry of Oil and Natural Gas.
