China imposes travel bans due to Covid-19 Surge.

Beijing: As China’s pandemic crisis worsens, new travel bans and lockdowns have been implemented in more than 20 provinces with an increase in Covid-19 cases. According to the National Health Commission, China reported 2,591 locally transmitted COVID-19 cases on Tuesday.

According to Xinhua, 2,320 new local infections were detected in Jilin, 110 in Fujian, 36 in Liaoning, 24 each in Tianjin and Shandong, 15 in Guangdong, and 13 in Heilongjiang.

The remaining cases were reported in 12 provinces, including Hebei and Jiangxi. According to the commission, a total of 76 imported COVID-19 cases were recorded on Tuesday. According to Xinhua, three suspected cases, all imported, have been detected in Shanghai.

In the meantime, in response to the pandemic, Chinese authorities have enforced travel bans and lockdowns in several regions and cities.

As a result, the situation has deteriorated in over 20 provinces and cities, including Jilin, Hebei, Guangdong, and Shanghai.

Following a recent spike in cases across the country, China is under increasing pressure to protect itself from illnesses.

However, days after the National Health Commission (NHC) announced new recommendations for relaxing control measures, Chinese President Xi Jinping stated that Beijing would maintain its “zero Covid-19” policy.

On its website, NHC had posted a new paper. It was the ninth amendment to a report outlining COVID-19 policy for the country of 1.4 billion people, titled Novel Coronavirus Diagnosis And Treatment Plan.
