China makes statements on India’s Brahmos missile accidental fired into Pakistan. 

China said on Monday that India and Pakistan should hold talks as soon as possible and conduct a “thorough” probe into India’s recent “accidental” missile launch that landed in Pakistan’s Punjab region.

During a press conference today, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said that Pakistan and India are both major countries in South Asia and share responsibility for regional security and stability.

When asked about China’s response to the ‘accidental firing’ of the Indian missile by a Pakistani journalist, he stated, “We have noted the necessary facts.”

“In South Asia, Pakistan and India are both key countries with responsibilities for regional security and stability,” he said.

In revised comments posted on the Chinese Foreign Ministry’s website, he said, “China calls on the countries to hold dialogue and communication as soon as possible, and look into the incident thoroughly, step up information sharing, and promptly establish a reporting mechanism so that such incidents will not happen again, and misunderstanding and misjudgment can be avoided.”

The Indian government stated on Friday that a missile was accidentally fired two days ago and landed in Pakistan and that a technical breakdown caused the “very regretful” incident during routine maintenance.

A day after Pakistan alleged a high-speed projectile launched from India breached its airspace and fell near Mian Channu in Punjab province’s Khanewal district, India’s defense ministry said the government has taken the issue seriously and appointed a ‘Court of Enquiry’ into it.

“A technical breakdown during routine maintenance on March 9 resulted in the inadvertent discharge of a missile.” The Indian government has taken a tough stance and has appointed a high-level Court of Enquiry.

“It has been learned that the missile fell in Pakistan.” While the tragedy is unfortunate, the fact that no one was killed due to the accident is a source of relief,” the defense ministry said in a statement.

Pakistan’s Foreign Office (FO) said on Saturday that it was dissatisfied with India’s “simplistic explanation” for the missile’s “accidental firing” and sought a collaborative investigation to accurately uncover the facts surrounding the event.

The FO called India’s Charge d’Affaires to express its displeasure with the “unprovoked” violation of its airspace, claiming that such “irresponsible incidents” demonstrated India’s “disregard” for aviation safety.

Pakistan also urged the international community to take this terrible occurrence in a nuclearized environment seriously and do its part in promoting strategic stability in the area, according to the FO.

Even though India’s defense ministry did not disclose the missile’s name, the Pakistan military’s description suggested it could be a Brahmos missile.

Ties between India and Pakistan have deteriorated since a terror attack on the Pathankot Air Force base in 2016 by Pakistan-based extremist groups. After other attacks, the relationship deteriorated further, including one on an Indian Army camp in Uri.

The relationship deteriorated after India stated in August 2019 that it would withdraw Jammu and Kashmir’s special privileges and divide the state into two union regions.

In 2019, India’s decision to abolish Jammu and Kashmir’s special status infuriated Pakistan, downgrading diplomatic ties and dismissing the Indian High Commissioner in Islamabad.

It also halted all air and land connections with India and commercial and railway services.

India has stated that it wants regular neighbourly ties with Pakistan free of terror, hatred, and violence. According to India, Pakistan’s responsibility is to establish an environment free of terror and hate.
