According to authorities, the Central Bureau of Investigation is conducting searches at the residence of West Bengal Minister Moloy Ghatak in connection with an alleged coal theft.
Three of Mr. Ghatak’s homes in Asansol’s Paschim Bardhaman district and one in Kolkata’s Lake Gardens neighborhood were raided by CBI agents.
The agency searched these premises concerning the deception, assisted by a sizable detachment of central paramilitary officers. Members of the team included female police.

Abhishek Banerjee, the National General Secretary of the Trinamool Congress and the nephew of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was recently interrogated by Enforcement Directorate (ED) investigators in Kolkata for about eight hours as part of the investigation.
Although Mr. Banerjee was not mentioned in the charge sheet, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had filed one in July of this year against 41 participants in the coal fraud.
