On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Pakistan’s newly elected Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif.
Modi also said that “India wants peace and stability in a region with no more terror.”
One hundred seventy-four people in the Pakistani National Assembly voted for Shehbaz Sharif to be Prime Minister. He is the President of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and used to be the opposition leader in Pakistan.

Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s younger brother is now set to become the new leader of Pakistan. After the no-confidence vote against the government, the PTI government was ousted from power.
No-confidence vote: The Imran Khan government lost 174 votes to 174 against the no-confidence vote.
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari announced on March 30 that Mr. Sharif had been chosen as the opposition’s choice for Prime Minister.
