Irregular Congress leader Sonia Gandhi says she and her family are willing to give up their jobs to help the party, but “we all said no,” he said at the CWC meeting.

As a result of recent elections in five states, Congress’ Working Committee said that the party was apprehensive about what they would do next.

After a four-and-a-half-hour meeting, party general secretary KC Venugopal said, “The CWC unanimously reaffirms its faith in the leadership of Sonia Gandhi and asks the Congress President to lead from the front, address the organization’s weaknesses, and make necessary and comprehensive organizational changes to take on the political challenges that face the country.”

He also said that the Congress Working Committee would meet again before the Chintan Shivir.

After the Budget Session of Parliament, he said the two groups would meet again.

Sonia Gandhi will start taking corrective action right away, he said. He said that the organization would be revamped and strengthened.

“Every single member of the CWC wants Sonia Gandhi to lead the party until the party holds its organizational elections.”

To the surprise of Congress, it lost three of the five assembly elections. The party had hoped to do well to improve its chances for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and fight off a new challenge from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Trinamool Congress.
