Ahmedabad, February 15The night curfew, currently in effect in four major cities in Gujarat, including Ahmedabad, to stop the spread of COVID-19, was extended on Monday until February 28, authorities said.
However, in a concession to the people, the curfew from now on in Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara and Rajkot will be in effect between midnight and 6 a.m. instead of the first 11 p.m. to 6 a.m., they added.
This is the fourth extension of the night curfew that was first enforced in late November last year after an increase in COVID-19 cases in these cities after Diwali.
Compared to the average of 1,500 cases per day in November and December, the current daily addition to the number of infection cases is around 250 in the state, officials said.
