Cyclone Asani

The weather office said a low-pressure area is forming in the southwest Indian Ocean and is expected to become a cyclone by early next week. Forecasts show that the hurricane could move toward Bangladesh and north Myanmar.

There was a low-pressure area (LPA) that formed on Tuesday. It was expected to move east-northeastwards and become a well-marked LPA by Saturday, then move along and off the Andaman and Nicobar Islands before becoming a depression, the India Meteorological Department said.

On March 21, the weather system was expected to get even stronger and become a cyclonic storm. It was expected to keep moving north-northwestwards until March 22.

Asani will be the storm’s name when it turns into a cyclone, which is what Sri Lanka came up with.

“Then, it will move north-northeastwards, and by the morning of March 23, it will be near Bangladesh and the north Myanmar coast,” the weather office said.

There is a perfect chance that the sea will be rough in the southeast Bay of Bengal and the South Andaman Sea on Thursday and Friday.

There are parts of the equatorial Indian Ocean that are dangerous for anglers to go into on Wednesday. The weather office has told them not to go there on Thursday or Friday.

It has also told fishermen not to go into the Andaman Sea between Saturday and Tuesday.

winds are expected to hit the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on Sunday. The next day, gale-force winds could reach 70-80 km per hour, with gusts up to 90 km per hour.
