Cyclone Yaas will affect East Midnapore: According to the Indian Meteorological Department, the cyclone Yaas is likely to landfall near Bhadrak and Balasore in Odisha. Yaas, going to landfall on Wednesday afternoon.

However, the Kolkata weather department already declared a high alert for East Midnapore and South 24-Parganas. In this situation, a storm hit Halishahar and Bandel Church area in West Bengal on 25 May 2021. According to the local people, the storm came suddenly and hit the nearby area. Therefore, many houses, store, and trees collapsed.

Perhaps, the Yash storm won’t hit Kolkata directly. In the meantime, the cyclone will become stronger. Further, it will move towards Kaptipada and Khejuri in Odisha. The Yaas speed in Odisha may reach 150 km per hour to 190 km per hour at landfall. After that, the hurricane will lose its power.

According to the Meteorological Department, Yaas’s speed in Bengal will be highest in the East Midnapore district. At that time, cyclone Yaas speed in East Midnapore may reach 110 km per hour. And the maximum speed of the Yash cyclone may go 150 km per hour.

Yaas will clash between Baleshwar and Digha. The storm speed in South 24 Parganas will be 90-100 km per hour. In Kolkata, Howrah, and Hughli, the storm’s speed maybe 60-70 km per hour. 

However, the Yaas speed in Kolkata will not reach the speed of Amphan cyclone. At the moment, Yaas is 540 km away from Digha.

In the next 24 hours, Yaas will become a powerful tropical cyclone. The storm will then move north-northwest and reach the coasts of North Orissa and West Bengal on Wednesday morning. It has already started raining in several districts, including Kolkata. The wind is blowing with the rain.

On that day, Kolkata and surrounding areas may be flooded by the heavy rainfall. Cyclone Yaas speed in Kolkata may reach 65 kilometers per hour to 180 kilometers per hour. And, it could be the almost same speed of Amphan cyclone was in the last year.
