Comedian Dave Chappelle’s new standup special is coming to Netflix.
Dave Chappelle, one of the most famous comedians on Earth, is bringing another comedy special to Netflix. The Closer, as it’s called, is a standup special that will be released on October 5.
A teaser video shows some of what to expect and includes Chappelle alluding to some edgy humor. “Sometimes the funniest thing to say is cruel,” he says in the clip. “Remember, I don’t mean it with bad intentions, I say it because it is fun.”
This will be Chappelle’s sixth standup special for Netflix, following The Age of Spin, Deep in the Heart of Texas, Equanimity, The Bird Revelation, and Sticks & Stones. Stan Lathan, who directed Chapelle’s previous specials, returns for The Closer, according to the deadline.
Chappelle was allegedly paid $ 60 million to bring his new comedy specials to Netflix, which he hopes Chappelle’s stardom will help attract new subscribers.
Chappelle starred on the sketch comedy show Chappelle’s Show from 2003 to 2006, before leaving the show and moving to South Africa to get out of the public eye.
New Netflix Standup Special
Earlier this year, Netflix pulled Chappelle’s Show off the network at Chappelle’s request because he was denied a share of the earnings. Netflix finally settled things and paid Chappelle millions of dollars, getting Chapelle’s Show back in the process.
