Devon Conway breaks Ranjitsinhjis 125-year-old record

New Zealand rookie and opening batsman Devon Conway broke several records, some dating back to the 19th century, during the opening innings of the First Test against England. It is currently moving ahead with the New Zealand tail, approaching a double century.

The 29-year-old South African continued his record-breaking spree on Day 2, even as terrain fell at the other end. When he passed 154, he broke a 125-year record held by the legendary KS Ranjitsinhji for the highest score by a batsman in the test’s debut in England.

Conway had already engraved his name on the Lords honor board on the 1st with an undefeated century. He had also broken Sourav Ganguly’s 25-year-old record for the highest score in testing on his Lord’s debut, when he passed 131. The left-handed hitter remained undefeated at 136 when New Zealand finished the first day at 246 for three.
