Estonia summoned the Russian ambassador for airspace violation by a Russian helicopter.

Estonia summoned Russia’s ambassador on Tuesday to express displeasure with a Russian helicopter’s “very severe” breach of its airspace, the second time Tallinn has reprimanded Moscow’s envoy in less than two weeks.

It also voiced sympathy with Lithuania, which Moscow claims would be penalized for prohibiting certain items from transiting to the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad.

The helicopter had flown over a place in the southeast without authorization on June 18, according to the Estonian foreign ministry.

“Estonia considers this to be a severe and regretful occurrence that will surely increase tensions and is entirely unacceptable,” the country said in a statement, echoing demands for Russian soldiers to leave Ukraine.

“Russia must cease threatening its neighbors and recognize that the cost of Russia’s actions against Ukraine is prohibitive,” it said.

A close supporter of Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned Lithuania that barring transporting items sanctioned by the European Union across its borders to and from Kaliningrad would cause hardship.

On June 10, Estonia objected to the ambassador over Putin’s admiration for a Russian king from the 18th century. He conquered a city that is now Estonian.
