Explanation of the Ninja and Pokimane Controversy: The popular Twitch streamer Pokimane is frequently in the news in recent times. Much of it revolves around an incident between her and a streamer named JiDion. Who has urged his viewers to attack Pokimane’s stream.
This led to an end to her stream earlier so that raiders could not similarly harm her viewers. JiDion was also JiDion was also slapped with an indefinite ban of 14 days. Later amended that into a permanent ban since the act is in breach of the Twitch Terms of Service.
Although many have expressed their support for Pokimane in the wake of this sequence’s events. Ninja’s position is a little more complex.
This ban ended up in Ninja’s team threatening to sue the Pokimane team for defamation.
This is a bizarre sequence of events, which even Pokimane herself is unclear about, but the videos and clips from JiDion, Pokimane, and Ninja’s live feed link the dots, at least to a degree.
Explanation of the Ninja and Pokimane Controversy
JiDion’s Reaction to the Permanent Ban
Although he believed that the ban of 14 days was justifiable for breaking the rules of Twitch. He’s been in a fight against the ban’s permanent nature since Twitch changed its policy.
Along with launching an official hashtag on Twitter, he also reached out on the Twitch streaming channel Ninja to get the ban lifted.
Both streamers were active both on the platforms they were using. Jon offered Ninja 100 subs to remove the ban of any permanence.
Pokimane was later able to explain the events through her words; however, videos are available online that prove what she’s claiming occurred.
In many instances, Ninja voiced skepticism to JiDion and his followers that there was next to nothing he could accomplish to change his ban on restriction on Twitch.
But, he also stated, “I can send a text,” with a laugh and doubting that nothing would change.
Later, in the video, Ninja states, “Alright, I sent the text.” But, he later revealed private messages sent to Pokimane to show that this didn’t happen.
For JiDion isn’t clear whether anything will change about the severity of his ban. Still, JiDion’s tone has changed from ridiculing Poki by calling her names in favor of “dropping in” and asking his fans to follow suit.
Why Ninja’s Team Is Threatening To Sue Pokimane
A few different private messages sent to Pokimane claimed that Ninja did not send an actual text message in any way to a Twitch representative.
First was a text message sent by Ninja himself, which states, “I swear on my grandfather’s life . . . that I didn’t message my Twitch rep.” He then responded by saying Poki was “making an enormous mistake.”
The wife of Ninja, Jessica Blevins, would also direct messages to Poki to make her account of events, even though they were based on Ninja’s words as displayed in the video “defamation of character” and the fact that they were calling their legal team.
Blevins claimed that Pokimane is “spewing lies” about Ninja and how he appears to have spoken to a Twitch representative. Blevins added that Pokimane was responsible for the “highest level” of harassment.
As a response to the insidious communication, Poki would pointedly tweet that Ninja probably lied to be his rep but never did and that the actress had been “willing to accept” this truth.
Ninja and his crew may want to keep his brand safe from any connections to promoting hate attacks against women, but the result could appear to be an overreaction.
Ninja has previously stated his opinion regarding JiDion’s Twitch ban and stated that he had given the smaller streamer a speech. About the sinful nature of allowing viewers to belittle other streamers.
As time goes on, there might be nothing to discuss, and the situation could settle down.
Or, Ninja’s group could take the next step of taking on Twitch’s woman Twitch streamer. However, the threat could have been a to show.
