Six states, including Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Bihar, are likely to receive heavy to heavy rainfall over the next five days, according to the forecast by the Indian Department of Meteorology (IMD).
On Wednesday, IMD placed most of the meteorological subdivisions in these states on “orange alert” from July 2 to 5.
“There will be heavy to very heavy spells isolated over the west coast and inland of Maharashtra and Gujarat until July 6. In some places in Konkan, Goa and Madhya Maharashtra, there are chances of extremely heavy rainfall of more than 200 mm on July 3 “. and on July 4, “said the IMD’s rain warning issued on Wednesday.
There is a cyclonic circulation over southern Gujarat and adjacent Maharashtra, which will persist until July 4. Similarly, another cyclonic circulation is found in eastern Uttar Pradesh. In addition to these weather systems, there are possibilities of strong wind convergence, as moisture-laden westerly winds are blowing out to sea from the Arabian Sea, causing fairly heavy rains along the west coast, IMD said.
Heavy to very heavy rain is forecast over the eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh between July 3 and 5, while the Gujarat, Kutch and Saurashtra region will experience heavy rainfall on July 4 and 5. Heavy rains will continue on Bihar until Friday.
