Fuji TV took to Twitter to announce the sequel of the famous manga and anime series Given. Natsuki Kizu, the manga series creator, shared a promotional video and teaser visual to surprise the fans anxiously awaiting the sequel of the beloved Given anime series.

Given gained popularity among the fans and was on-aired on Fuji TV’s Noitamina programming block in July 2019. Later, due to the high viewership demand, the anime series began streaming on Crunchyroll. Also, due to the global fan base, the anime series got its English dubbed in August 2022.

Given is primarily divided into different story arcs. The first arc is about the band’s formation that leads to the first-ever live performance. The second arc revolves around preparing the band for the first music festival.

Given Anime Film Sequel

The anime series depicts the story of a high school student named Ritsuka Uenoyama, who has lost his passion for basketball and music. However, he meets Mafuyu Sato, who revives the Ritsuka’s passion for music.

The Given manga was published bimonthly in the manga magazine Cheri+ in 2013. Also, the manga has now been collected by Shinshokan into eight tankobon volumes.

Before the anime, the manga series was initially adapted as an audio drama in 2016. The anime premiered in 2019 and had a total of 11 episodes. The anime is about the love and passion for music and how a band evolves.

Later, the Given movie was released in Japan in May 2020 and later streamed on Crunchyroll for its international audience. Interestingly, the Given movie was titled “Untitled” and released on Crunchyroll on February 2, 2021.

As far as the Given manga is concerned, the seventh volume includes a surprise for the fans. Besides enjoying the manga, the fans also listened to the original anime disc titled” Given: Uragawa no Sonzai” in December 2021.

Sadly, the Given manga series will end on March 30, 2023. However, the fans don’t need to feel sad as the sequel to the anime series is on its way.

The Given anime series has an overall IMDB scoring of 8.4 out of 10, 8.35 out of 10 on MyAnimeList, and 4.9 out of 5 on Crunchyroll.

Before the announcement of the sequel, fans were skeptical about the online content’s production. It’s because the manga had completed only two story arcs while a season and a movie had already been adapted.

A limited edition of the live edition was released with Given 2 and 5. The fans enjoyed the bonus CD with the songs performed by Soma Saito.
