New Delhi, February 18: In a recent development, the railways have deployed up to 20 additional companies from the Special Railway Protection Force across the country with a focus on Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal ahead of the four-hour protest on the roko railway called as part of the agitation of farmers against the three agricultural laws passed in September.

The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), a body that brings together the farmers’ unions leading the protest, announced the rail blockade last week to press for their demand to repeal the legislation. On Wednesday, the director general of the Railway Protection Force, Arun Kumar, called for peace and said that they will keep in touch with the district administrations and will have a control room to monitor the protest.
