Five Military Soldiers killed in Clash with Indian Army in Galwan
Five Chinese military officers and soldiers were killed in last year’s clash in the Galwan valley in eastern Ladakh with the Indian army, the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) officially recognized on Friday.
Five Chinese border officers and soldiers stationed in the Karakoram Mountains have been recognized by the China Central Military Commission (CMC) for their sacrifice in the border clash with India, which occurred in the Galwan Valley in June 2020, the PLA Daily, the official. Chinese army newspaper reported on Friday.
Among the dead was Qi Fabao, the PLA Xinjiang Military Command regiment commander, according to the PLA daily report, cited by the UN Global Times.
A total of 20 Indian soldiers were killed in the Galwan Valley clash, considered the worst in more than four decades on the India-China border.
The PLA’s admission of casualties coincides with the withdrawal of troops from both sides on the northern and southern shores of Lake Pangong, the most contentious part of the fighting that began in May last year..
