Ranchi, February 19: The Jharkhand High Court rejected on Friday the bail declaration of Bihar’s chief minister Lalu Prasad Yadav in relation to the fodder scam case and asked him to submit a new petition after two months.

The Dumka treasury embezzlement case is an offshoot of the multi-crore rupee fodder scam. The former prime minister of Bihar has already obtained bail in three cases of forage scam of more than 900 million rupees and awaited a favorable decision in the Dumka Treasury case for his release from prison. He now has to wait two more weeks for the court’s verdict on his bail bond.

Last week, the Jharkhand High Court had postponed the hearing until February 19 on the bail statement of the former chief minister of Bihar.

Prasad’s attorney, Devarshi Mandal, said that since another important matter has been set for his hearing on February 5 after a mention of it in court, the court gave February 12 as the new date to take the request. bond from the RJD leader.

The court said that if the IWC has something to say on the matter, it can do so during this period.

CBI lawyer Rajiv Sinha said he was ready for a discussion on the matter, but Prasad’s lawyer Kapil Sibal said that since all the relevant documents are not in court at the moment, there is no point in keeping a discussion, after which the court published the matter for the future. date.

On January 25, a report was submitted to the High Court on Prasad’s behalf detailing that he has already completed more than half of the jail sentence awarded by a CBI court in the case and requested an early hearing in the matter of the Dumka treasury. .

The court accepted the statement and set the hearing for January 29. The septuagenarian leader was airlifted to AIIMS Delhi last week following reports of his deteriorating health.

On March 24, 2018, CBI Special Judge Shivpal Singh sentenced Lalu to 14 years in rigorous prison in the embezzlement of Dumka’s treasure for forage scam. The RJD chief was convicted in four cases of forage scam and has already obtained bail in three other cases.
