There were peace talks in the state capital of Kohima on Monday. The centre’s interlocutor, who had the first talks with major Naga groups like the NSCN-IM and other stakeholders six months ago, arrived there on Monday.
Interlocutor AK Mishra, a former Special Director of the Intelligence Bureau (IB), will meet with Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and other Naga leaders and leaders of the Isak-Muivah faction NSCN-IM and the Naga National Political Groups (NNPG).

While in Nagaland for a week, the representative from the Center would also meet with members of a group that deals with Naga politics, led by the Chief Minister.
RN Ravi, the governor of Nagaland, was moved to Tamil Nadu, where he now serves as governor. After that, the former IB chief was given charge of the Naga peace talks.
Because of this, the peace process came to a halt. There was an open disagreement between NSCN-IM and Mr Ravi.
When he visited Nagaland in September last year, Mr Mishra also talked about the Naga peace talks with Assam’s Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma. Mr Biswa Sarma is also the head of the North East Democratic Alliance, the northeast branch of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
