India Vs. New Zealand: Irfan Pathan’s Ultimate Praise for “Captain” Virat Kohli After Series Triumph
The Indian cricketers scored a memorable victory in the Test series 1-0 against New Zealand on the fourth day of the second test match at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
The spinners made the most of the conditions superbly and allowed the captain to get another win in the Test series to his name.
Former Indian cricketers like Irfan Pathan praised Virat Kohli through his competent team selection and bowling adjustments.
The former all-rounder praised Kohli for his leadership skills and even went further and called him one of the “best Test Captain India have ever had.”
Pathan posted on Twitter to write: “As I have said earlier and repeating it, @imVkohli is the best Test Captain India have ever had! He’s at the top with the win percentage of 59.09 percent, and the second spot is at 45 percent.”
After missing the opening Test to take a much-needed relaxation post an intense global and franchise cricket series, Kohli was named captain stand-in Ajinkya Rahane for the Mumbai Test.
The decision was rewarded immediately, as Kohli opted not to enforce a follow-on decision after dismissing the hosts for just 62 in the opening innings.
To give some confidence and match practice for the batters under pressure on the side, Kohli decided to bat again.
India’s home team relied on Mayank Agarwal’s greatness and Axar Patel to reach an ambitious 540-run goal. As a result, New Zealand was skittled out for 167 runs and handed India a historic victory of 372 runs.
