Mukhtar Ansari tests COVID-19 Positive

Gangster-turned-Politician Mukhtar Ansari tests COVID-19 Positive

Gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari, housed in Banda Jail in Uttar Pradesh, tested positive for the new coronavirus. According to details, Ansari’s samples were collected from the jail facility on Saturday, after which his antigen report came back positive. However, the result of Mukhtar Ansari’s RTPCR report is still awaited. The gangster-turned-politician is currently suffering from a fever and is under observation by doctors.

Mukhtar Ansari was returned to Banda prison this month in an ambulance, part of a convoy carrying armed police, along the 900-kilometer journey from Rupnagar to this Uttar Pradesh city in the Bundelkhand region.

Hours later, his brother Afzal Ansari, who is also the BSP deputy from Ghazipur, had accused the police of treating him “inhumanely” during the trip, claiming that they did not give him food or water.

“During the trip of more than 15 hours, they did not give him water or food and they did not give him medical assistance. Because of this, he felt bad and arrived at the Banda jail in a semi-conscious state,” he alleged.

Afzal Ansari, however, did not elaborate on how he found out about his brother’s alleged treatment.

But it did not confirm the accusation and, according to the UP government, a medical panel examined the 57-year-old man after his arrival and found no immediate health problems.

However, Supreme Court ordered his transfer from Punjab after the UP government requested, seeking custody of the politician in the Punjab.
