Glacier Burst in Chamoli

Glacier Burst in Chamoli District of Uttarakhand.

A glacier exploded near the India-China border in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district on Friday night. Authorities said that no death or damage reported yet.

The NDRF team (National Disaster Response Force) said the water level in the Rishi Ganga River has risen by two feet. And this might the cause of this glacier explosion. Also, read EC filed FIR against 13 candidates in West Bengal for disobeying the Covid Rules.

The central government is observing the situation and has alerted all necessary things for rescue operations.

After acknowledging the glacier outbreak, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat said: “A glacier breakout has been reported in Sumna, Niti Valley. I have issued an alert about it. I am in constant contact with the district administration and BRO”.

In another tweet, Rawat said that the Union Minister of the Interior, Amit Shah, learned of the information about the glacier outbreak, secured the help of the Center, and alerted the ITBP.
