Google is shutting down the ‘Question & Answers’ section in Search from 30 June.
Google is configured to close your ‘Question-Answer’ section in Google Search, one of the main features of the search engine that displayed answers to questions asked by users, in somewhat related search terms. The feature will no longer be available starting June 30. The tech giant has updated its support page for the issue, informing users of the update.
The feature was introduced to Google users a couple of years ago. You can type a question in the Google search bar and the results will usually appear directly related to the question or with some “related questions” and answers below them. Google also appears to have allowed publishers to respond to questions posted by users.
Google had reportedly developed the feature primarily for users in the Indian market. However, the company’s website does not mention this as an India-specific feature.
Google’s documentation, in response to the function, says: “In Google Search, you can ask and answer questions about what you are looking for. Contributions in Google Search do not work in all languages or in all countries or regions. ”
However, some user experiences suggest that questions and answers may not always give the best results. If you’ve answered any questions in recent years, Google suggests that you can head to Google Takeout to export your search contributions before they disappear from the site at the end of June.
Google’s “Questions and Answers” section, the never-ending section of Quora-like quick information snippets, was hugely popular on many search result pages. Currently, Google allows users to ask questions and answer questions from both the Google.com website and the Google application on smartphones.
