Group Captain Varun Singh, only Survivor Of Chopper Crash. 

Group Captain Varun Singh has been identified as the only survivor from a military helicopter crash. That took place the previous day on Wednesday in Tamil Nadu. 

Unfortunately, it kills India’s most senior military officer, General Bipin Rawat, his wife, and 11 others.

Lieutenant-Colonel Varun Singh is currently being treated for severe burns injuries inside the Military Hospital in Wellington. 

In August, he was awarded the Shaurya Chakra for his bravery when handling his aircraft when it was struck with major technical issues on an air mission the year before. 

He could land his Tejas aircraft without incident despite the mid-air crisis.

The Tamil Nadu government has made special arrangements to care for the Group Captain.

He is in the hospital in Coimbatore if the Air Force decides to transfer him there.

Group Captain Singh headed the Sulur after leaving Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, to greet General Rawat, who was expected to address the students and faculty there.

The village that is the paternal home belonging to the group Captain Singh is located in eastern Uttar Pradesh’s Deoria and is his father. 

K P Singh retired from the Army as a colonel. State Congress chief Akhilesh Pratap Singh is his uncle.

When he spoke to the media, The uncle of Group Captain Singh Dinesh Pratap Singh said, “He is currently in hospital. We will get information about his condition when the Air Force issues a bulletin.”

General Rawat, aged 63, headed towards the Defence College in Wellington in the Russian-built Mi-17 helicopter and crashed near the location around noon.

He was scheduled to visit his home at the Defence Services Staff College (DSSC) to speak to students and faculty members from the close Sulur airbase for the forces in Coimbatore.

The helicopter was already in its descent by the time of the crash.

However, it fell about 10 km from the closest main road, which forced emergency personnel to walk to the accident site.

According to rescue workers, the bodies recovered from the wreckage site were severely burnt.
