Ahmedabad: Gujarat’s chief minister, Vijay Rupani, said on Sunday that his government would soon enact a strict law against the “jihad of love” in the state.
He made the announcement while addressing an electoral rally in Vadodara ahead of the municipal corporation elections.
“We are going to bring a law against love jihad in the Assembly. Such activities that are carried out in the name of love jihad will not be tolerated … The BJP government will bring strict laws against love jihad in the coming days,” he said. .

Rupani said his government has also made strict laws against “gunda” (antisocial) elements and land grabbers with provisions of up to 10 and 14 years in prison to protect the interests of the common man.
“In the last sessions of the Assembly, our government had made strict laws. We have made a law against the Gundas. To ensure that these elements do not cause problems for the common man and get a strict 10-year punishment, we introduced the law.
“We also made the Land Appropriation (Prohibition) Law so that people do not enter the land of others and seize the property of others using false documents. We brought this law with a provision of 14 years of punishment,” he said.
The prime minister added that the BJP government in the Center has fulfilled the promises made to the people regarding the construction of the Ram temple, the removal of article 370 and took revenge on Pulwama by launching an air strike.
According to Rupani, Gujarat will witness a ‘golden age of development’ when the BJP rules “from panchayat to Parliament”.
“This is the golden moment for Gujarat because the Modi government in the Center gives us everything we ask for. The previous Union government led by Congress did not allow us to open the gates of the Narmada dam. But Modi gave permission in 17 days, which opened the doors of development, “he said.

He also promised subway trains in Vadodara and other cities in the state.
