The former India spinner Harbhajan Singh will be seen in a different form during this year’s Indian Premier League as an essential player in the support team in one of the top franchises.
The 41-year-old Harbhajan was a player in a handful of matches in the opening phase of the last IPL for Kolkata Knight Riders, didn’t take part during the UAE portion of the competition.
Harbhajan is scheduled to retire from competition cricket around in the next week. After this, he’ll choose one of the opportunities he’s received to be a member of the support staff of at a minimum a couple of franchises.
“The job could consist of a mentor, consultant or a member of the advisory g. However, ever the franchises to whom he’s talking are eager to make use of his extensive knowledge.
He’ll be active in helping the franchise make the best auction choices,” an IPL source inside the organization informed PTI under the condition of confidentiality.
Harbhajan has consistently demonstrated an interest in the development of players. This was his leading role during the final times with the Mumbai Indians, where he spent an extremely productive decade.
In fact, during the KKR’s previous season, Harbhajan spent a lot of time coaching Varun Chakravarthy. As a result, he has been an integral team member for over two seasons.
Venkatesh Iyer, who was the winner of the previous IPL, revealed that Harbhajan had informed him following a couple of sessions on the net that he was going to be a massive success in the league before he’d played a single match.
In reality, this season, the chief coach of KKR Brendon McCullum and skipper Eoin Morgan also listened to Harbhajan’s suggestions on team selections.
“Look, Harbhajan wanted to announce his decision to retire after the season has ended. He’s had lengthy talks with one franchise who has expressed a strong enthusiasm, but he’d like to discuss it when the deal has been officially signed,” the source said.
