The Haryana government has ordered the closure of all schools in its four districts contiguous to Delhi with immediate effect in the wake of “deteriorating air quality” in the National Capital Region (NCR).

Gurugram, Faridabad, Sonipat, and Jhajjar schools will remain closed until further orders are issued following the government’s order on measures to manage air quality in NCR’s Haryana districts.

The order, issued by the additional chief secretary of the Haryana Department of Environment and Climate Change dated December 2, also completely banned construction activities, except for “non-polluting activities” such as plumbing, interior decoration, work electrical and carpentry, in addition to those allowed exclusively. by the Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and adjacent areas.

These restrictions will be strictly enforced in Haryana’s 14 NCR districts until further orders, he said.
