Covid-19 situation

The Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya will hold a virtual meeting with nine states and the United Territories on Tuesday to assess the current Covid-19 situation.

According to a source, Mandaviya is expected to meet with health ministers from Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Ladakh, Uttar Pradesh, and Chandigarh.

This discussion will examine the current Covid situation and public health readiness for the containment and control of the disease in these states, he explained.

On the 10th of January, Mandaviya held a meeting with health ministers and senior officials from Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Goa, Dadra & Nagra Haveli, and Daman & Diu.

Mandaviya had urged the states to make the most of the funds provided under ECRP-II to improve the infrastructure for health across the nation and advised the states to prepare well regarding physical infrastructure.

In the meantime, India on Monday reported a significant drop in new Covid cases, which stood at 3,06,064. In addition to 439 deaths within the last 24 hours, India’s total Covid death rate has increased to 4,898,848.

The vaccination coverage in India has surpassed 162.77 million, with more than 49 lakh doses administered until 7 at 7 pm on Monday.

Over 87,00 pre-emptive doses have been given to the specified categories of beneficiaries to date.
