Heavy snowfall is expected to hit Himachal Pradesh over the next 48 hours. 

An alert of yellow was issued for Himachal Pradesh’s hilly areas in anticipation of the expected torrential rain. It includes tourist destinations like Chamba, Spiti, Kullu, Shimla by the Indian Meteorological Department, ANI reported.

“The snowfall time was more prolonged than the previous seasons. The next (next) two days will be freezing and accompanied by massive snowfalls,” Surender Paul, the director of the IMD regional office in Himachal Pradesh, was quoted as telling media outlet ANI.

The frigid temperatures in various regions in Northern India are also expected because of the extensive snowfall.

The IMD, in its forecast released on Monday, stated that the majority of the country will be experiencing temperatures below average in February. 

In contrast, Punjab and Haryana are expected to see above the usual amount of rainfall.

“Below normal maximum temperatures are likely over most parts of the country except along the eastern and southwestern coastal areas of peninsular India where it is likely to be normal to above normal,” according to the weather department.

In the meantime, Delhi witnessed moderate fog in the morning of Wednesday, with the lowest temperature recorded in the range of 11.2 degrees Celsius, which is three notches more bass than the average of the season, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated.

Capital’s air quality last day was in the category of very poor. Its air quality indicator (AQI) as of 7.05 on Wednesday morning was 341as the Central Pollution Control Board data revealed. 

At the same time, the AQI in its surrounding areas like Faridabad was 283 Ghaziabad (356), Greater Noida (216), Gurugram (274), and Noida (327).
