Progress reports and case diaries from five recent rape, gang rape, or attempted rape cases must be shown to the Calcutta High Court on Tuesday. The government of West Bengal must show it. The court also asked the government to protect the people who had filed a complaint and their families.
On April 15, petitioners in a PIL said that a tribal girl was raped at Shantiniketan in Birbhum district. A woman was raped at Namkhana in South 24 Parganas district. They want an investigation by an independent agency or a court-monitored investigation.

Allegedly, a woman with disabilities was also raped in Paschim Medinipur, and another woman was reportedly raped in Netra in South 24 Parganas, the PIL said.
Petitioners said another attempted rape in Maynaguri in Jalpaiguri district, where the woman tried to kill herself after being threatened by the person who tried to rape her.
A division bench made up of Chief Justice Prakash Shrivastava and Justice R Bharadwaj. After hearing both sides, the court ordered that progress reports and diaries from all five cases be brought to them by April 22, when the case will be heard again.
According to the lawyer for the state, local police have taken action in all five of the cases. Namkhana, Santiniketan, and Netra have had arrests recently after police took note of complaints at those three places.
As he continued, the prosecution in Jalpaiguri has asked that the bail of the people who were arrested in Maynaguri be revoked. This happened in late February.
The lawyer said police protection had been given to the people who said they were harmed.
