Horan was named U.S. “Female Player of the Year’.

A midfielder Lindsey Horan was named U.S. Soccer’s Female Player of the Year, the nation’s soccer federation announced on Thursday.

The multifaceted Horan scored seven goals, added five assists, and helped lead the United States to a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics and a second successive SheBelieves Cup title.

“Her attitude to work in the midfield and her determination to keep growing as a player is inspirational,” national team head coach and head coach Vlatko Andonovski said.

“Her ability to regulate the pace of a game at the highest level is unparalleled, and so is her ability to score balls in the midfield, and also help in creating goals for the attacking.”

The award was based on the votes of national team players, coaches, players and media members, supporters, and others.

“I’ve put in a lot of effort to reach this level in my career, and even though I know there’s a lot more to complete and goals to do both as an individual and as a team it’s always satisfying to be recognized,” said Horan.

He was instrumental in helping Portland win this year’s National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) shield in the 2017 season.

Washington Spirit forward and NWSL rookie of the year Trinity Rodman was voted U.S. Soccer Young Female Player of the Year.
