Iga Swiatek, the world number one, stated that “the sky is the limit” as she tries to extend her 33-match winning run and reach the final of the French Open.
On Thursday, the 2020 Roland Garros champion takes on Russian Daria Kasatkina in the last four, with the victor facing either Coco Gauff or Martina Trevisan in the showpiece match on Saturday.
Swiatek, a Polish tennis player, has risen to the top of the rankings after a remarkable unbroken run in which she has won five consecutive events, including four WTA 1,000 championships.
On Tuesday, Swiatek, who turned 21, said, “I felt like the sky’s the limit for me, so I feel freer right now; I feel like I’ve proved myself.”

“A lot has changed in my thoughts, and I now know that I can be number one and handle it appropriately. That’s very fantastic. ”
Swiatek will be competing in her third Grand Slam semi-final, having previously reached that level in the Australian Open.
Kasatkina won her first match against Swiatek on the Eastbourne grass last year, but she has lost all three of their 2022 matches in straight sets, with no match-winning more than five games.
Those losses, however, occurred on hard courts at the Australian Open and in Dubai and Doha.
“We played a couple of times this year,” Kasatkina said, “but I lost those matches, but it was a different tale.” “It was a hard court at the start of the year, and I wasn’t in as good of condition as I am today.
“I can’t compare what we’ll have tomorrow to what we had when we played in February and March. It’ll be an entirely different match this time…
“It makes no difference to her whether she plays on hard court or clay. However, I believe I should confront her on clay. “
