Many homeless people moved into refuges on Tuesday night, as the temperatures
dropped to 7° Celsius in the nation’s capital city, and the town was covered in fog.
As per India Meteorological Department (IMD), New Delhi reported 11.8 degrees
Celsiusaround 2 am on Wednesday.
In addition, there was a report that the Safdarjung center in the country’s capital reported
a temperature of 7°C, which is two degrees lower than the average temperature the
previous night.
“People are from different states, including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan. The shelter
has 18 beds. Testing for covid is conducted now and then there,” said the caretaker of the
night shelter in Ramlila Maidan.
The weather bureaun their weekly weather forecast for the week predicted that, barring
Thursday, the temperature will likely be at a single digit for the entire week in the nation’s
capital.
IMD has also said that northwest India, which includes Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi,
and Uttar Pradesh will see moderate to light rainfall from February 2nd and 3rd.
“Scattered light rain very likely to occur over Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh on February
2nd. widely to widespread light/moderate rainfall highly likely in Punjab, Haryana,
Chandigarh, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh between March 3 and 4,. It will reach its highest
intensity on February 3.” IMD said.
