Imran Khan appoints former CJP Gulzar Ahmed as caretaker prime minister.
Following a political crisis, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan nominated Gulzar Ahmed, a former chief justice, as interim prime minister.
In addition, Fawad Chaudhry, Pakistan’s Minister of Information and Broadcasting, announced.
The Dawn newspaper stated that Imran Khan made this choice after receiving clearance from the PTI’s core committee.

President Dr Arif Alvi wrote a letter to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Leader of the Opposition in the outgoing National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif earlier today, requesting names of suitable people for appointment as caretaker premier under Article 224-A(1) of the Constitution, according to a Pakistani newspaper.
This comes just one day after the deputy speaker of the National Assembly rejected a no-confidence resolution against Imran Khan. Also. On Khan’s suggestion, President Arif Alvi dissolves the National Assembly.
On February 2, 1957, Ahmed was born in Karachi and was sworn in as Pakistan’s 27th chief justice on December 21, 2019.
According to the Dawn newspaper, he was chief justice till February 2022.
