India did not vote on human rights violations in Gaza on UN Council.
Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas have been fighting for 11 days. And innocent people have had to pay the price for that bloody conflict. Both sides abuse international law of human rights. The United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) has called for a special committee to look into the matter.

India abstained from participating in the vote held at the council’s headquarters in Geneva on Thursday.
On that day, 24 out of 47 members of the Human Rights Council voted in favor of the resolution. Nine countries voted against it. Fourteen countries, including India, abstained from voting. As a result, the proposal was passed.
This time, the Human Rights Council will start an investigation into the human rights violations in the Israeli-occupied Palestinian territories, including Gaza and Jerusalem. Significantly, the UN’s dispute with the United States over this proposal has become public.
Washington has strongly condemned the human rights proposal. Germany, England, and Austria have also opposed the proposal. However, Pakistan, China, and Bangladesh supported the proposal, agreeing to investigate human rights violations.
Besides India, France, Italy, Japan, Nepal, the Netherlands, Poland, South Korea, and a few other countries abstained. All in all, the conflict between Israel and Hamas has left the world virtually divided, analysts say.
Meanwhile, Jewish Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the Human Rights Council’s resolution “anti-Israel” and “shameful.” According to analysts, India has tacitly supported Israel by refraining from voting on the council’s proposal.
Because, in the last few years, the relations between the two countries have become very strong in the field of defense. So New Delhi does not want to put more pressure on Tel Aviv on the international stage.
Indramani Pandey, India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, called on the two sides to maintain peace. He called for resolving the issue through talks.
