India is registering 1.61 lakh new cases

India has recorded 1,61,386 Covid-19-related cases and 1,733 deaths within the last 24

hours, which brings the total death count to 4,97,975, as per the information published

from the Ministry of Health on Wednesday (February 2, 2022).

The number of active cases is 16,21,603.

A drop of 1,21,456 cases was recorded in the Covid-19 caseload that is currently active

within the span time of just 24 hours.

In addition, the country recorded 2,81,109 recovered points today, bringing the total

number of recovered cases to 3,951,307.

The active cases make up 3.90 percent of the total number of infections. The average

Covid-19 rate of recovery is 94.91 percent.

According to the ministry, the positive rate for the day was recorded as 9.26 percent,

whereas the weekly rate of positivity was measured at 14.15 percent.

Furthermore, the cumulative doses are given to the nation to date under the national Covid-19

vaccination campaigns have been more than 167.29 crores.

A total of 17,42,793 tests were carried out in the past 24 hours to confirm any signs of

infection with the virus.

As recent statistics show a significant rise in deaths caused by coronavirus around the

globe, The World Health Organization (WHO)has called on countries that are beginning to

ease Covid-19-related measures to do so in a gradual and steady method.

“Since when the Omicron type was recognized just a short time ago, nearly 90 million

people have reported cases to WHO and more than recorded in all of 2020. Now, we are

beginning to observe a significant increase in deaths in most areas around the world,” WHO

Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus spoke in a briefing to the press.
