India reported 216,850 Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, and it is the highest peak in a single day so far. The single-day spike comes a day after 200,739 Covid-19 cases recorded on Thursday. India’s Covid count has spiked to 14,287,740 in total cases. Last week, India replaced Brazil as the second most affected country in terms of total Covid-19 cases. India is now in second place by the total highest number of active cases. India also witnessed 11,183 deaths due to COVID-19 in a single day. The death toll from the fatal infection is 174,335.
Covid 19 Cases in Maharashtra
According to the state health department, Maharashtra reported 61,695 new coronavirus cases and 349 deaths in the past 24 hours. West Bengal recorded the highest peak in a single day of 6,769 cases and Delhi 16,699. Because of the “unprecedented increase” in the number of Covid-19 cases in Delhi, the Union Interior Ministry said Thursday that its officials down to the undersecretary level can work from home and that only 50 percent of the staff must attend the office.
The five states most affected by the total cases are Maharashtra (3,578,160), Kerala (1,189,175), Karnataka (1,094,912), Tamil Nadu (954,948), and Andhra Pradesh (937,049).

Coronavirus cases are steadily increasing worldwide, with 139,660,993 infected by the deadly contagion. While 111,604,556 have recovered, 2,984,891 have so far died. The United States continues to be the most affected country with 32,223,714, followed by India, Brazil, France, and Russia. However, in terms of the total number of active cases, the US tops the charts, followed by India, Brazil, France, and Russia.
