India reported 2,68,833 new COVID-19-related deaths and 402 deaths within the last 24
hours, which brings the death toll in the country to 4,85,752, according to information
published from the Ministry of Health on Saturday (January 15, 2022). The number of
active cases is 14,17,820.
A surge of 1,45747 cases was recorded in the COVID-19 active caseload over the course
that lasted 24 hours. The country also saw 1,22,684 recovery cases, bringing the total
number of recovered patients to 3,494,473,390.
The latest infections in India are 5.1 percent more than yesterday’s, as India announced
2,64,202 COVID-19-related cases last Friday.
India has also recorded 288 new Omicron-related infections, which brought these cases
across the country to 6,041, as per information from Union Health Ministry data.
The positivity rate for the day was recorded as 16.66 percent, while the weekly positive
rate was recorded as 12.84 percent as per the ministry.
In addition, the total doses that have been administered across the country to date under
the national COVID-19 vaccination program have exceeded 156.02 million.
