India spike of over 1.15 lakh new COVID-19 cases in 24 hours

New Delhi: The number of new coronavirus Cases in India hit a daily record since the pandemic outbreak with more than 1.15 lakh new infections reported within a 24-hour span, pushing the entire country COVID-19 It counts to 1,28,01,785, according to data from the Union Health Ministry updated on Wednesday.

Posting a steady increase for the 28th day in a row, active cases rose to 8.43,473, representing 6.59 percent of total infections, while the recovery rate dropped further to 92.11 percent, according to the data.

The number of active cases was at its lowest level with 1,35,926 on February 12, accounting for 1.25 percent of total infections.

The number of people who have recovered from the disease rose to 1,17,92,135, while the fatality rate dropped further to 1.30 percent, according to the data.

From India COVID-19 the bill had crossed the 20 lakh mark on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and 50 lakh on September 16. It went from 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20, and surpassed the one crore mark on December 19.

The 630 new deaths include 297 from Maharashtra, 61 from Punjab, 53 from Chhattisgarh, 39 from Karnataka, 30 from Uttar Pradesh, 18 from Madhya Pradesh, 17 from Delhi and Gujarat, 15 from Tamil Nadu, 14 from Kerala, 13 from Rajasthan.

A total of 1,66,177 deaths have been reported in the country so far, including 56,330 from Maharashtra, 12,804 from Tamil Nadu, 12,696 from Karnataka, 11,113 from Delhi, 10,355 from West Bengal, 8,924 from Uttar Pradesh and 7,251 from Andhra Pradesh, and 7,216. from Punjab.

The Ministry of Health highlighted that more than 70 percent of the deaths occurred due to comorbidities.

“Our figures are being reconciled with the Indian Council for Medical Research,” the ministry said on its website, adding that the state distribution of the figures is subject to further verification and reconciliation.
