The final stage of ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2022 is here, and now it is known
who will be competing in the Super League stage and the Plate competition.
The eight Super League teams have previously won the tournament, including India,
Australia, Pakistan, South Africa, England, and Bangladesh’s current champions
throughout.
Sri Lanka, who finished as runners-up in the year 2000, and Afghanistan are the other two
teams that can win the trophy at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium on 5 February.
In the Plate quarter-finals, the host West Indies will look to rebound from their loss on the
Super League spot and finish their first home-based tournament playing on a high.
The team will also be represented by United Arab Emirates, Uganda, Ireland, Canada,
Zimbabwe, Scotland, and Papua New Guinea in what promises to be an intense competition
to determine which are the Plate winners.
Four-time champions India are entering the Super League stages in formidable form,
winning all three games in Group B.
They finished first and set the stage for a match against Bangladesh.
Big centuries by Raj Bawa and Angkrish Raghuvanshi witnessed India finish this group
stage with a crushing 326-run win against Uganda after beating South Africa and Ireland.
The Bangladeshi passage wasn’t as relaxed as the reigning champions regaining their title
from losing their first game against England to finishing second in Group A.
An eight-wicket victory against Canada is followed by a nine-wicket win (DLS) during the
rain-stopped match with UAE to set the stage for an opportunity to play again in the final
two years earlier.
While India would like to erase their loss of three wickets in the 2020 edition of the
showpiece, Bangladesh is finding its stride just at the right time to prepare for a thrilling
fight.
