India-US 2+2 talks

On April 11, Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III will welcome Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh to the Pentagon in a ceremony that will be more honor cordon-like (Sunday).

Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar will meet with their American counterparts on Sunday for the 2+2.

“Both sides will be able to look at a wide range of issues on the India-US agenda, such as foreign policy, defense, and security, during the Dialogue,” the Ministry of External Affairs said. “The goal is to provide strategic guidance and a vision for strengthening the relationship.”

“The 2+2 Dialogue will also give us the chance to talk about important regional and global issues and how we can work together to solve problems of common concern,” the statement said.

US Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken and Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter will meet with their Indian counterparts in Washington DC on Sunday.

2+2 Ministerial is an excellent chance to work together on a wide range of issues in the US-India Strategic Partnership.

“We want to strengthen our relationship, build more diverse supply chains for critical and emerging technology and public health cooperation, and build a trade and investment partnership that will help working families in both countries,” says the US.

“The relationship between the world’s two largest democracies is built on a foundation of shared values and resilient democratic institutions, and on the shared Indo-Pacific interests of a rules-based international order that protects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of countries, upholds human rights, and expands regional and global prosperity,” the US State Department said.

The EAM, who will be in the US on April 11-12, will also meet his counterpart, Secretary of State Blinken, on his own.

He will also meet with senior members of the US administration to improve the India-US strategic global partnership, MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said at a press conference.

Before the 2+2 meeting, Secretary of State Antony Blinken called EAM Jaishankar on Tuesday to talk about regional and global issues, including the situation in Ukraine. They also spoke about other topics, such as the Middle East.

They had their last 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue in October 2020. New Delhi is where it was held.

In September, India and the United States met for a bilateral 2+2 inter-sessional meeting. They talked about South Asia, the Indo-Pacific region, and the Western Indian Ocean.
