The Indian women’s cricket team is set to play a Test in Australia after playing one in England next month.
India, playing its first test in seven years starting June 16 in England, will play another during the Australia tour. They will also play ODI and T20I matches in Australia.
India last played a Test against Australia in 2006.
“England and Australia are the two teams still playing tests and in the future, you will see a test inserted when they visit India or when India tours the two countries,” a BCCI official told PTI on Tuesday.
“The idea was raised on the sidelines of the Men’s Pink Ball Test and then discussed at the Apex Council meeting (last month).”
The Australian tour has yet to be announced, but Australian brand Megan Schutt said earlier this month that the series is scheduled for mid-September.
The Indian team meets in Mumbai on Wednesday ahead of the UK tour that includes a test in Bristol, followed by three ODIs and as many T20Is.
The team will be quarantined for two weeks before flying to the UK with the men’s team.
