The Commonwealth Games Federation president Louise Martin announced that India’s hockey teams would be competing at Birmingham’s Commonwealth Games.
However, this is a reverse of their decision not to participate in 2022.
India had withdrawn its hockey team from the following year’s Games. This was due to COVID-19 concerns.
Hockey India’s decision not to prioritize the Asian Games of China, which is a qualifying event for the 2024 Olympic Games at Paris.

Martin stated that India’s teams would participate in the tournament if they qualify, a decision made after discussions with Narinder Batra, president of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA).
“India’s hockey women and men, if they are eligible, will be there. Martin said that he was delighted to be invited by the Olympics news website Withinthegames.
“India is the largest country in the Commonwealth. Therefore, all their teams are needed in all the sports they compete for at these Games.
Hockey India and the IOA could not immediately be reached for comment.
The Commonwealth Games will be held between July 28th and August 8th.
