Inter collision Salernitana to strengthen grip on the top spot

Inter collision Salernitana to strengthen grip on the top spot.

The dominant Inter Milan notched a sixth consecutive Serie A victory by thrashing the bottom side Salernitana 5-1 on the pitch in Salerno on Friday, extending their advantage in the top spot of the table up to 4 points.

The champions are currently on an unbelievable run of form in the league. They have won their five games in a row without conceding a goal and winning ten times without losing.

“These games appear easy in the paper, but they’re far from it. The players were on the right track from the beginning. Then, of course, I made a few adjustments. But you wouldn’t be able to tell that everyone was involved.” Inter coach Simone Inzaghi stated to Sky Italia.

Ivan Perisic headed in the opening goal before Denzel Dumfries struck an additional goal before the break.

It is the first time in the history of Inter that they’ve scored 100 Serie A goals in a single calendar year.

Alexis Sanchez fired in a third before substitutes Lautaro Martnez. Then, with just eight points, Roberto Gagliardini completed their victory to put the hosts at the bottom of the table.

Inter is on top, scoring 43 points. They are four points clear ahead of AC Milan in second, playing Napoli on Sunday evening.

“We should continue this way. We are currently enjoying a fantastic run, and we’ll be facing Torino next.” Inzaghi added.

“It could be the ninth time we play over 25 games. So we have to make one last kick.”

The mood of the home supporters in the Stadio Arechi was in stark contrast to the visitors, with fans waving banners of protest following the uncertainty surrounding the club’s ownership caused reports that they might be banned from Serie A mid-season.

The events on the field gave the players little reason to cheer neither.

Perisic hit the ball into the goal from a corner, and Dumfries hit a shot from the bar’s bottom and through the goal-line technology.

It showed that it crossed the line when the ball bounced off the bar and bounced back.

Inter’s pressure was constant, and they missed several opportunities to increase their score.

The game’s best goal was their third amid a counter-attack at the edge of their box that Sanchez finally smashed into the corner of the net after several slicks passes.

Martinez and Gagliardini also were rewarded by the ball breaking up to them in the area to their goals in the final 15 minutes when Inzaghi’s team displayed their unwavering side.

In the previous game, Andriy Shevchenko’s nightmare started as Genoa coach when Genoa lost 3-1 to Lazio.
