India and the UAE agreed to operate special repatriation flights between the two countries from July 12 to 26.
On Twitter, the Minister of Civil Aviation, Hardeep Singh Puri, said that the civil aviation authorities of both countries agreed to put into operation a special flight agreement.
“As part of the close strategic partnership between the governments of India and the UAE, and in order to assist UAE residents currently in India to return to the UAE, the Civil Aviation Authorities of both countries have agreed to implement a special agreement. ” Puri said in a tweet.
Under the agreement between the two countries, chartered flights operated by UAE carriers will bring Indians flying from the UAE to UAE residents approved by ICA (Federal Identity and Citizenship Authority) to their country of origin. on its return leg.
On the other hand, Indian carriers operating repatriation flights to bring Indians from the United Arab Emirates will be able to transport ICA-approved UAE residents on their return journey from India to the Gulf country.
Prior to this, the Minister of Aviation had said in a tweet that special flights will be arranged for nearly 500 Uttarakhand residents stranded in Dubai.
“RS MP Member @anil_baluni discussed the issue of nearly 500 Uttarakhand residents who are stranded and distressed in Dubai. I assured him that special flights will be arranged for them. My office is coordinating with @MEAIndia to ensure his early return, ”he had said.
Following the announcement by the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Air India Express expressed interest in operating its flights from 12 to 26 July from India to the UAE for Indians with UAE work permits.
Speaking to Twitter, Air India Express CEO K Shyam Sundar said on Twitter: “Happy to announce that Air India Express opened its flights between July 12 and 26 from India to the UAE for sale to the Indians with UAE residence permits. ”
