Iowa man faces charges after pointing gun at an employee.
SIOUX FALLS – A 31-year-old Iowa man is in the Minnehaha County Jail and is facing a robbery charge.
Police say two men broke into a pawn shop on West 41st Street Monday afternoon.
After one of the men pawned some items … the other man pulled out a gun, pointed it at the clerk, and said he wanted money.
When the clerk asked him if he was serious … the man said it was a joke and that he wanted to pawn the gun.
“At the time it happened to the victim, the employee thought that it was a real robbery that was happening. The two guys initially left, but then they ended up coming back a short time later and that’s when officers found them, ”said Sam Clemens of the Sioux Falls Police Department.
Wesley Hanson faces a robbery charge. Police say the gun was real, but it was not loaded. It was also in a holster at the time, but the employee said he thought it might still have been fired.
