After being released by Kings XI Punjab, Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell is open to play for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. Three days before the mini-auction in Chennai, Maxwell has expressed interest in play for former finalists.
Glenn maxwell, speaking to reporters on Monday, said he would love to work with his “idol” AB de Villiers at RCB and noted that he shared a good camaraderie with Virat Kohli, the Bengaluru-based franchise captain.
“I get along quite well with Virat. It will definitely be nice to work with Virat and I will certainly enjoy hitting with him, that’s for sure,” Maxwell said.
“It will be fantastic to work with him, and he has always been a great help to me throughout the journey. Whenever I have reached him, he has been brilliant. So to be able to work with him first hand will be great.
Glenn Maxwell has been one of the most expensive players in IPL over the years. He has represented 3 camps so far: the Indians of Mumbai, the capitals of Delhi (Daredevils) and the Kings XI Punjab. It was bought for Rs 9 crore at the 2018 IPL auction by Delhi Capitals, but they released it after only one season. Before IPL 2020, Maxwell was bought for Rs 10.75 million after fending off competition from capitals.
Will Maxwell fit into RCB’s plans?
However, Maxwell did not live up to the price once again, managing just 108 runs in 13 matches at IPL 2020, as his season in the UAE ended without him reaching a single six. Despite being an internationally proven actor, Maxwell has struggled throughout the years in the IPL, managing just 1,505 runs in 82 matches averaging 22.13.
We have had different coaches – Punter [Ricky Ponting, Sanjay Bangar, Sehwag – and it’s been awesome. People ask me if my cricket would be different if I didn’t go for that [IPL], But I have no idea. But I don’t think I would because I don’t feel like I’ve changed too much as a person, “Maxwell added.
Chasing the elusive IPL title, Royal Challengers Bangalore pitched as many as 10 players despite reaching the play-offs at IPL 2020. Some of them include big names like Aaron Finch, Chris Morris, Dale Steyn, Umesh Yadav and Shivam. . Dube.
RCB will head to the 2020 IPL auction with the third largest purse of Rs 35.2 crore as 292 players will be under the hammer in Chennai on February 18.
