Gautam Gambhir, former India starter and two-time IPL trophy winner, feels the Royal Challengers Bangalore can go after Glenn Maxwell in the upcoming 2021 IPL mini auction. The former KKR captain feels that Glenn Maxwell will continue to win a lot, despite his indifferent gains in IPL so far.

Maxwell has listed its base price in INR 2 crore for the 2021 IPL auction after being launched by Kings XI Punjab. Maxwell had scored 108 runs with a strike rate of 101.88 in 13 games in the previous edition.

Speaking to Star Sports, Gambhir noted that teams like KXIP and RCB will seek a proper balance in their team.

“There will be a couple of teams that will be eager to go into the auctions and buy the players they want. There is the Kings XI Punjab, there is the RCB, who will look for some players to strike the right balance. These sides will be very, very active in auctions, “Gambhir told Star Sports during the lunch break on Day 1 of the second India-England test.

“There are teams that will be looking at someone like Maxwell. Surely RCB will be looking at him. That is my personal opinion. Anything can happen at auctions. But I feel like Maxwell will go to RCB,” Gambhir added.

“Because if I look at their entire hitting lineup that they have, Virat Kohli will definitely look to open up the hitting, because that’s where he’s been the most successful. Padikkal has done very, very well for them last season. So they have AB, and then they can have someone like Maxwell, the X factor, “he explained.

“And in Chinnaswamy, where he has done very well. Whenever he has played in Chinnaswamy, he has won games for Australia. So I think Maxwell will go to RCB. Depending on how much RCB will give for him, but I feel like he would go for a lot of money.” Gambhir concluded.
