Mitchell Marsh (89) and David Warner (52*) put up a 144-run partnership to help Delhi Capitals beat Rajasthan Royals by eight wickets at DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai.
DC had a spectacular day, putting up a solid all-around effort to keep their postseason chances alive. DC is now in fifth place in the standings with 12 points after this victory. With 14 points, RR is in third place.
The Delhi Capitals, who were chasing 161, got off to a shaky start, losing opener Srikar Bharat for a duck on the second ball of the innings as a Trent Boult delivery hit the edge of his bat dropped in the hands of wicketkeeper Sanju Samson.
Mitchell Marsh, an Australian all-rounder, joined fellow countryman David Warner. In the second over, Prasidh Krishna bowled a maiden, and the third Boult over gave out just four runs, leaving Delhi at 5/1 after three overs.

Ravichandran Ashwin, who introduced spin in the fourth over and handed up 12 runs due to six runs from Marsh, got things going.
The chase took off after that hit, with the fourth, fifth, and sixth overs all going for 11,12 and 10 runs, respectively, with Marsh and Warner stabilizing the innings.
Marsh was more aggressive, while Warner anchored from the start. DC was 38/1 after the powerplay, with Marsh (24*) and Warner (11*) leading the way.
Marsh took the chase to the next level after the powerplay, hitting pacer Kuldeep Sen for two sixes and 16 in his seventh over.
This also brought up Warner and Marsh’s fifty-run outing, with the latter dominating hitter. Both batters proceeded to pile on the runs.
DC had recovered from the early difficulties and was at 74/1 after 10 overs, thanks to Marsh (47*) and Warner (23*). Marsh reached his half-century in 38 balls, his first season, with a six off Chahal’s delivery in the 11th over.
In the second part of the innings, the assault on the RR bowling attack continued, with the pair going all out against Yuzvendra Chahal, Ashwin, and Prasidh Krishna.
In the 14th over, Warner hit a four-off Sen’s third delivery, bringing the 100-run stand between him and Marsh to 79 balls.
DC had taken grip of the match with 114/1 after 15 overs, and Marsh (70*) and Warner (38*) were at the crease with the equation reduced to 47 runs required in the next five overs.
Marsh and Warner thrashed the RR bowling attack, blasting 15 runs in Ashwin’s 16th over. Chahal eventually got Marsh out in the 18th over of the game when he was caught by Sen at short fine-leg for 89 off 67 balls.
This brought skipper Rishabh Pant to the plate, where he hammered two sixes in Chahal’s 18th over to push Delhi closer to victory.
Warner completed the formalities with a three-off the opening ball of the 19th over. It was also his sixth half-century of the season for him.
On Wednesday, top innings from Ravichandran Ashwin and Devdutt Padikkal gave Rajasthan Royals a 160/6 after the first innings against Delhi Capitals at Dr. DY Patil Stadium.
Rajasthan had a good hand in the first innings thanks to Ashwin’s 50 runs off 38 balls, and Padikkal’s 48 runs off 30 balls. Chetan Sakariya, Anrich Nortje, and Mitchell Marsh each took two wickets for the DC.
Rajasthan got off to a shaky start as their opening batsman Jos Buttler was dismissed with just 7 runs by Chetan Sakariya.
Ravichandran Ashwin has been moved to number three, where he will team up with opener Yashasvi Jaiswal to keep the scoreboard ticking over.
In the eighth over the innings, the two stitched a superb connection and brought their team’s total above the 50-run mark.
In the ninth over, Mitchell Marsh struck back for RR, dismissing Jaiswal for 19 runs. Devdutt Padikkal was brought to the crease by Jaiswal’s wicket, and the latter hammered Mitchell Marsh for 8 runs.
Ashwin scored his first half-century in only 37 balls, while Padikkal defended him well at the other end. In 14 overs, they reduced Rajasthan’s total to 107/2.
Mitchell Marsh was reintroduced to the attack, and the pacer provided a significant breakthrough for his side by dismissing Ashwin for 50 runs.
Sanju Samson, the RR captain, joined Padikkal on the crease to set up a massive score and keep the RR scoreboard rolling.
Padikkal hammered DC bowlers all over the field. After just scoring six runs, the RR captain could no longer stand on the ground and fell victim to Anrich Nortje.
Riyan Parag, a young hitter, stepped to the plate to help his team’s batting order. In a single over, Parag and Padikkal hammered Nortje for 14 runs.
Chetan Sakariya was summoned back into the bowling attack in the 17th over of the innings, and he bowled an incredible spell of 7 runs, including the wicket of Riyan Parag.
Rassie van der Dussen joined Padikkal on the crease to relieve some load on the squad. Padikkal fell victim to Nortje in the 19th inning after scoring 48 runs, leaving the team’s total at 146/6. Shardul Thakur’s 20th innings was vital in limiting Rajasthan to 160/6.
